Short Spine

Short Spine Sculpture:  This piece is modeled after the Pilates Short Spine which for me is a daily inclusion in my morning routine just after my first cup of coffee and right before I move toward facing the day around the time of the sunrise.  Notice the strength and stability offered by the still delicate arms and refined shoulders of this female subject.  Her chin is prominent and confident and legs reaching high, bringing energy into the room directly from the core. 

The wood is a finely carved and incredibly smooth mahogany with a dark stain and satin finish.  This sculpture begs the admirer to touch its sensationally smooth curves and finely polished finish.

Snake Sculpture:  About 9 years ago I met Elizabeth Larkam at the San Francisco Bay Club and for a number of years later I had the distinct pleasure of working closely with her as I held a position for the largest US based Pilates equipment manufacturer.  Elizabeth was performing a choreographed group Pilates routine with a few of her students at an evening social for an intimate audience.  The performance has evolved into a refined dance with and without equipment and her group has morphed into performing under the name "Pilates on Tour" which is promoted in tandem with Balanced Body.  The Snake sculpture was inspired by a brief snapshot I caught where I noticed the requisite balance of mind and body in order to execute this perfect pose.   For me, the beauty in difficult poses such as the snake is that there requires equal parts confidence and concentration.
